Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 25-year-old Colombian immigrant to the United States, was shot and killed by David Brouillette, a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer during a traffic stop in Biddeford, Maine, United States. Durán Guerrero's car was rammed by an ICE vehicle while he circled an intersection incapacitated after his car was shot at five times; he was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. ICE agents were executing a search warrant, though Durán Guerrero was not the target of the warrant. The incident occurred six days after the killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, who was shot by ICE during another traffic stop, and it prompted ICE to suspend using traffic stops to carry out operations; President Donald Trump overturned the suspension a day after it was ordered.

Juan Jairo Coronilla Durán, the Mexican man who was hit and killed by a semi-truck in Florida when running away from federal immigration officials was vacationing in the US with a tourist visa, according to news reports this week.
The 28-year-old, Juan Jairo Coronilla Durán, was killed after an “encounter” with federal officials, including those with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a state highway patrol spokesperson said last week.
After federal officials approached him and a group of four men at a gas station that Tuesday morning, they all took off running. The Florida highway patrol spokesperson said Coronilla ran into traffic and was hit by a semi-truck.
Coronilla’s death is one of the four ICE-related deaths that took place in less than one week.

Ruben Ray Martinez, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was fatally shot in the early hours of March 15, 2025, on South Padre Island, a resort destination in south Texas. After a night spent celebrating his birthday, Martinez approached a busy intersection, where a car crash had taken place hours earlier. Officers from multiple agencies were on scene to help manage traffic, including Homeland Security Investigations, which is part of ICE.
For nearly a year, DHS and the Texas Department of Public Safety attempted to conceal ICE’s involvement in the shooting and lied about the circumstances, falsely claiming that Martinez intentionally struck an agent with his vehicle. The claim was later contradicted by video evidence, released only after demands by Members of Congress.
“Mr. Martinez’s death is a tragedy that should never have happened,” Garcia and Casar write. “DHS’s repeated lies and omissions about the shooting of Mr. Martinez reflect a troubling pattern in which official statements about the use of lethal force are later challenged by video footage, witness testimony, or subsequent investigations.

Jesús Manuel Arenas-Silva, a 45-year-old Venezuelan man, died four days after his arrest while being transferred between detention facilities in Georgia. In a press release, ICE said Arenas-Silva was arrested last Thursday and had been detained at the Irwin county detention center, a privately run facility in Georgia. He was being transferred to another ICE facility, the Folkston ICE processing center, when he was found “unresponsive” in a transport bus. ICE said the “suspected” cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Arenas-Silva’s sister and immigrants’ rights groups in Georgia said in a press statement that ICE did not provide him with necessary medications during his time in detention for an unnamed condition he was dealing with, despite his family’s pleas that he take the medications during his arrest last week.
His is the 22nd death in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody this year.

Alex Pretti died as he lived: taking care of other people.
Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse with a Veterans Affairs medical center, was using his cell phone on Saturday morning to record federal immigration agents in Minneapolis in a neighborhood known for its ethnic diversity. Bystander videos show that he was directing traffic until an agent knocked down another bystander and Pretti went to help her up. At that point, as Pretti stood with his arm around the woman, an agent sprayed him in the face with a non-lethal chemical weapon. A group of agents tackled him to the ground. After an agent confiscated Pretti’s legally registered — and secured — handgun, one or more additional agents fired as many as 10 shots at him. He died at the scene.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo,a 52-year-old Mexican man, was shot and killed by a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Houston, Texas, United States. Salgado Araujo had been driving a work crew to a construction site when an ICE officer shot him. Following the shooting, ICE alleged that Salgado Araujo used his vehicle as a weapon. This has been contested by the victim's family, elected officials, and civil rights groups.Salgado Araujo was pronounced dead at Ben Taub Hospital. Born in Tlatlaya, State of Mexico, he had been living in the United States for 35 years working in construction at the time of his death. Salgado Araujo did not have legal permission to live in the U.S.,but had begun applying for authorization. He did not have a criminal record.
Salgado Araujo met his wife when they were teenagers in Mexico. They had three children together, all born in the United States, and thus American citizens. Salgado Araujo owned a small construction business. One of his sons, Ronaldo Salgado, who is a teacher, said that his father had "dedicated his life to giving his family the American dream"

Keith Porter Jr, a 43-year-old father of two, was fatally shot by an ICE officer on New Year’s Eve outside his apartment complex, according to LA and federal officials. An LA police department (LAPD) spokesperson said after the incident that Porter had fired gunshots into the air. A US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson said the off-duty immigration officer was “forced to defensively use his weapon” while responding to an “active shooter”.
Much about the incident remains unclear. There’s no footage of the shooting. Porter’s family and local activists have argued that, contrary to the DHS’s portrayal of the events, Porter was not threatening anyone and was celebrating the new year. Jamal Tooson, an LA attorney representing Porter’s family, said Porter’s actions possibly merited arrest or citation by the LAPD, but the ICE agent, who was not charged with local law enforcement duties, instead subjected him to “a death sentence”.

Silverio Villegas González
ICE agents were conducting a targeted traffic stop in Franklin Park, where Villegas González reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to flee. DHS claimed Gonzalez seriously injured an ICE agent, prompting another agent to fire at Villegas. However, bodycam footage showed the ICE agent describing his injuries as "nothing major", contradicting the official narrative. Eyewitnesses later stated that they did not see Villegas's vehicle dragging any ICE agents, and a truck driver stated that Villegas reversed after being cut off by agents to be taken into custody.
Video posted to social media showed ICE agents breaking the driver's side window of Villegas's vehicle and Villegas being pulled from and away from the vehicle already wounded.[12] It was later reported that Villegas was shot at close range, with the bullet traveling through the back of his neck and stopping in his chest, with graze wounds found on two fingers.
He was killed after he dropped his children off at school.
